Ian Norris has a growing reputation for expressive landscapes and seascapes. In
2010 he was elected a member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts (MAFA),
having gained a first class Honors degree in Fine Art. He is inspired by our
region’s coastlines and natural landscapes which encapsulate his passion for
capturing scenes and his fascination for light and space. He paints exclusively
from observation often revisiting locations several times to capture not only
the visual aspects of a scene but also its essence in the sensory emotional
feelings it evokes. He is displayed in galleries and exhibitions and has been
featured in Art of England magazine and Lancashire Life. In 2011 he won the Dr
Barbara Oldham OBE Memorial Award at the Manchester Academy of Fine Art Summer
Exhibition.
